Schweitzer Mountain's Offerings
Schweitzer Mountain has many things to offer year round. For a long time the lush mountain has been known just for it’s 2,500 acres and 61 ski runs. From it’s bunny slope’s to it’s expert runs and two big bowls for the snow boarders, add a annual snowfall of 300 inches per year it all equals fun! fun! fun!
Today the sleepy mountain offers a wide variety of restaurants, shops, and activities for the true adventurers. After the ski season ends and the snow melts the Schweitzer ski resort doesn’t go to sleep in the summer. Oh no! For the mountain biker and hiker during the summer the ski lifts are converted into bike lifts where you and your bike will be taken to the top of the mountain and dropped off at the peak. Just before you start your descent down the mountain on your bike you will find yourself overlooking a breathtaking view of the Schweitzer village, Sandpoint, Lake Pend Oreille and trees as far as you can see. What! You can’t bring your bike! Well, no worries, there’s bike rentals available in the village. Take your camera, you’re going to want to show your friends. Also, let’s not forget that there’s hiking, hunting, kayaking, golf, horseback riding, and fishing in this area. This mountain has something for everybody year round.
